Shillong: The Meghalaya government organized the 7th Act East Business show in Shillong with dignitaries and delegates from 13 countries and provinces.
Overall, Northeast and Meghalaya, in particular, could play a key role in strengthening economic ties between BBIN and ASEAN nations. This could establish Meghalaya as a dynamic player in regional commerce, feels CM Conrad Sangma.
The event highlighted the need to create designated economic zones to facilitate targeted partnerships between states and international stakeholders.
This event was aimed at strengthening economic and trade relations between BBIN (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal) and ASEAN nations.
The show focused on key sectors like technology, agriculture, manufacturing and tourism. It also showcased Meghalaya’s potential as a key economic hub in the Northeast.
Meghalaya is targeting to grow into a $10 billion economy. Policy reforms, infrastructure development, entrepreneurship promotion and grassroots economic networks will be the key catalysts to reach this target.
