Aizawl: The Mizoram government is rolling out the Mizoram Universal Healthcare Scheme (MUHCS) on 1 April.
The scheme will offer an annual coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family and provide cashless medical treatment to citizens of different SEC backgrounds including government employees.
MUCHS will align with the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and cover pre-existing conditions and hospitalization expenses. Contractual and muster-roll government employees have to pay a monthly premium ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 1,500.
Accordingly, there will be three contribution-based plans, including a General Plan of Rs 2,500 per year for general ward treatment, a Standard Plan of Rs 5000 per year for semi-private ward access and a Private Plan of Rs 10,000 per year for private ward facilities.
Beneficiaries will have access to free treatment at state-run hospitals, primary healthcare centres and empanelled private or church-run hospitals.
Many hospitals in southern Mizoram have already joined the scheme. However negotiations are still going on with private hospitals in Aizawl.
