Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has approved 10 significant industrial projects across 7 districts of the state. The 40th High-Level Clearance Authority cleared these projects with a total investment worth Rs 1,65,303 crore.
These 10 industrial projects in Odisha cover steel, aluminium, power generation, green hydrogen and span across Bhadrak, Cuttack, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, as well as Rayagada districts. These projects are expected to generate 51,939 jobs.
Vedanta Aluminium plans two major aluminium projects in Rayagada. One is a Rs 50,537 crore 6 MTPA alumina refinery and another is a Rs 40,991 crore greenfield 1.2 MTPA aluminium smelter. Together, these two projects are expected to create 15,900 jobs.
JSW Steel will establish a 5 MTPA integrated steel plant in Keonjhar, investing Rs 35,000 crore. Shyam Steel will set up a Rs 5200 crore plant in Bhadrak, and OCL Iron and Steel a Rs 3000 crore plant in Keonjhar.
Orissa Thermal Energy will invest Rs 18,450 crore in a 2400 MW ultra-super critical coal-based thermal power plant in Cuttack that will generate 8100 jobs.
Shreetech Data Limited plans a Rs 1560 crore green hydrogen project in Mayurbhanj. The World Green Energy will set up a Rs 1475 crore solar manufacturing facility in Ganjam.
