Bilaspur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district on March 30 to launch multiple infrastructure and energy projects worth over Rs 33,700 crore.
The projects include power generation, transmission, and cleaner energy initiatives, aiming to strengthen the state’s infrastructure and self-reliance in electricity production. Modi will hold a public meeting at Mohbhatha village during his visit.
Major Power Projects to Boost Generation Capacity
PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of NTPC Sipat Super Thermal Power Project Stage-III (1x800MW) in the Bilaspur district, valued at over Rs 9,790 crore. The plant will use ultra-supercritical technology, which enhances power generation efficiency.
In a big boost to Chhattisgarh’s progress, projects worth Rs. 33,700 crore will either be inaugurated or their foundation stones will be laid. These projects cover the power, oil and gas, rail, road, education and housing sectors.

Additionally, he will initiate the commencement of work on Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited’s (CSPGCL) first supercritical thermal power project (2X660MW), worth over Rs 15,800 crore. This project is expected to enhance the state’s electricity generation capacity and reduce dependency on external sources.
Strengthening Power Transmission Infrastructure
PM Modi will also dedicate to the nation three Power Grid transmission projects under the Western Region Expansion Scheme (WRES), worth over Rs 560 crore.
These projects aim to improve power distribution and reliability in the region.
Push for Clean Energy and City Gas Distribution
In line with India’s net-zero emissions target, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd’s (BPCL) City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in the Koriya, Surajpur, Balrampur, and Surguja districts. The project, valued at Rs 1,285 crore, includes over 200 km of high-pressure pipelines, 800 km of MDPE pipelines and multiple CNG dispensing outlets.
The visit comes ahead of key elections in the state, making the development push a significant event for Chhattisgarh’s infrastructure growth.
