New Delhi: Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Electronics to jointly develop indigenous electronics and semiconductor solutions.
The agreement was formalised on 5 June at Bombay House, the Tata Group’s headquarters in Mumbai.
According to BEL’s stock exchange filing, the MoU was signed by Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of BEL, and Dr Randhir Thakur, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Electronics.
This collaboration aligns with the Indian government’s push to advance domestic capabilities in critical technology sectors.
The strategic partnership will focus on end-to-end cooperation in areas such as semiconductor fabrication (Fab), Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT), as well as semiconductor design services.
BEL stated that the collaboration aims to address both its current and future demand for high-end components, including microcontrollers (MCUs), systems-on-chip (SoCs), monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) and other advanced processors.
Both companies will also work on creating efficient manufacturing solutions tailored to BEL’s extensive product portfolio.
The alliance is expected to leverage mutual expertise, share best practices, and combine technical resources to accelerate innovation and enhance India’s presence in the global semiconductor value chain.
“This partnership is a strategic step toward strengthening India’s capabilities in the semiconductor ecosystem,” BEL said in its statement.
