Amaravati: The Government of Andhra Pradesh and Nvidia have entered a formal agreement to collaborate on creating an Artificial Intelligence (AI) University and expanding AI research, education, and startup support across the state. The move is part of the state’s broader strategy to develop a technology-ready workforce and support digital innovation in line with national goals.
As part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Andhra Pradesh and Nvidia aim to skill 10,000 engineering students over the next two years. Nvidia will offer support in the form of curriculum guidance and access to technical training materials. The initiative targets state-wide engineering institutions and intends to build foundational and advanced AI capabilities in students preparing to enter tech-driven job markets.
The agreement also includes support for setting up dedicated AI research centres in the state. These centres will focus on solving regionally relevant technological problems and encouraging industry-academic collaboration. Nvidia will advise on developing the computational infrastructure for the proposed AI University, including selecting necessary software, hardware, and research tools. The research component of the collaboration is expected to encourage joint projects that connect academia, government, and private industry to foster applied AI development.
Alongside the education and research components, the partnership includes support for early-stage tech ventures. Nvidia will offer technical guidance on building AI Factories, collaborative innovation hubs combining training, industry access, and research. The Andhra Pradesh government plans to help up to 500 AI-focused startups from the state apply for Nvidia’s Inception program. The initiative would provide selected startups with access to Nvidia’s technical resources and global network, although participation remains subject to Nvidia’s screening and eligibility process.
