Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approved a series of impactful decisions aimed at empowering women, modernising technical education and encouraging industrial investments.
Among the key announcements by the Yogi government was a significant relief for women property buyers – women purchasing property worth up to Rs 1 crore will now receive a one per cent rebate in stamp duty.
This revises the earlier provision that limited the exemption to Rs 10,000 for properties valued up to Rs 10 lakh. With the new change, women can avail a rebate of up to Rs 1 lakh, marking a major step toward gender-based economic inclusion.
Additionally, the UP Cabinet cleared a Rs 6,935.86 crore project to upgrade 121 government polytechnic institutes into Tata Technology Centres of Excellence in collaboration with Tata Technologies Limited (TTL).
TTL will invest Rs 6,034.20 crore, while the state government will contribute Rs 1,063.96 crore. It was also decided that an additional Rs 858.11 crore will be spent on civil infrastructure. The initiative, to be rolled out in phases starting with 45 institutes, aims to enhance the technical skills and employability of students through industry-aligned curricula and modern equipment.
To support defence and manufacturing sectors, the Cabinet approved the sale of 4.62 acres of land at Parag Dairy, Noida, to RAPHE mPhibr Pvt Ltd for Rs 4.67 crore.
The firm, which has invested Rs 800 crore in defence and drone manufacturing, will shift the existing dairy unit and invest another Rs 10 crore at the site.
Furthermore, the UP Cabinet allocated 10 hectares of land in the Lucknow node of the UP Defence Corridor to DRDO’s Instruments Research & Development Establishment (IRDE) at a token lease of Re 1. The IR Detection Technology Centre is expected to create 150 direct and 500 indirect jobs.
The UP Cabinet also revised the Swami Vivekanand Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana, scrapping the earlier plan to procure 25 lakh smartphones.
Instead, it has been decided that tablets with advanced features and larger screens will be distributed to youth under a Rs 2,000 crore budget for FY 2025-26 to aid in skill development and job readiness.
Infrastructure got a push with the green light for the 15.172 km four-lane Chitrakoot Link Expressway, to be built at Rs 939.67 crore under the EPC model. It will connect NH35/76 near Bharatkoop to Ahmadganj in Chitrakoot.
Other key decisions included restoring the old pension scheme for nearly 2,000 government employees appointed after 1 April 2005, but based on advertisements issued before 28 March 2005.
CM Yogi-led Cabinet also approved incentives for UAE-based Aquabridge’s aquaculture project in Unnao and Karnataka-based Innova Food Park’s agri-export hub near Jewar Airport – both projects aim to boost exports and benefit local farmers.
