Kolkata: In a major shift towards redressing gender disparity, West Bengal has emerged as the state with the maximum number of IAS officers.
West Bengal currently boasts of 84 women IAS officers with roles ranging from Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) to District Magistrates (DMs). Perhaps not surprising in a state with the longest-serving woman Chief Minister in the country.
Many of the female officers are currently at the bureaucratic helm of key departments, including Education, Health, Industry and Social Welfare.
