Lucknow: The central government has approved a one-year extension of inter-cadre deputation for a senior officer, IAS Anjaneya Kumar Singh. A 2005-batch officer of the Sikkim cadre, Singh will continue to serve in Uttar Pradesh till August 2026.
Singh, who was on a 60-day leave after his deputation ended on 14 August, had been serving as divisional commissioner of Moradabad since 2021.
The Uttar Pradesh government had sought his extension from the Centre, citing the need for administrative continuity.
Over the years, he held several important positions during his deputation in Uttar Pradesh. He served as District Magistrate and Collector in Bulandshahr, Fatehpur and Rampur, before taking charge as Additional Commissioner of Commercial Tax in Lucknow. In 2021, he was appointed Divisional Commissioner of Moradabad.
It should be noted that he came into prominence during his tenure in Rampur, where he initiated action against Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan.
Singh was also at the centre of controversies during elections, facing criticism from SP leaders, over his handling of the Model Code of Conduct and law-and-order situations.
