Kolkata: The first AC EMU train in Eastern India had its inaugural run on 10 August between Sealdah and Ranaghat.
The commercial run will start from 11 August, today, with two trips daily. During the morning rush, the AC train will leave Ranaghat at 8:29 am and reach Sealdah at 10:10 am. In the evening, thr train will leave Sealdah at 6:50 pm and reach Ranaghat at 8:32 pm.
The halts include Bidhannagar Road, Dum Dum Junction, Sodepur, Khardaha, Barrackpore, Naihati, Kanchrapara, Kalyani and Chakdaha. One-way fare ranges between Rs 35 and Rs 120.
The 12-coach rake was built at ICF near Chennai and has a seating capacity of 1,000+. Each coach has four automatically operated sliding doors on both sides and four CCTV cameras.
The two rear coaches are reserved for women. A GPS-enabled passenger information system offers real-time updates.
