Kolkata: Kolkata Metro has launched the “Amar Kolkata Metro App” for commuters on 3 August.
This is only the change in the name of the existing Metro Ride Kolkata app. The app was developed by CRIS and has been a hit among commuters since its inception.
The Metro Ride Kolkata app was launched on Android in 2022 and on iPhone in 2024.
To date, 12.30 lakh commuters are using this app on Android and another 76,000 on iPhones.
The commuters are using this app to recharge their smart cards or book QR code-based tickets anytime from anywhere.
Since early 2025, a new feature has been added to the app to get regular notifications on Metro services. These notifications informed about the introduction of new services, special services, changes in frequency of services, as well as the disruption of services.
The new app “Amar Kolkata Metro” will perform all the similar functions. In addition, Kolkata Metro staff will help passengers download this app from the Google Play Store and show them that procedure to use it at different stations.
The new app is currently available on the Android platform and will soon appear on the iOS platform.
