Churachandpur: The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) placed a comprehensive list of grievances before Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla during an official meeting at the deputy commissioner’s office in Churachandpur.
The council presented 16 major demands, focusing on infrastructure, governance, education and healthcare in Kuki-Zo-dominated areas in Manipur.
The delegation underscored the urgent need to upgrade electricity capacity in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur, repair key roads and address frequent landslides along the Tipaimukh route.
It also sought accelerated development of road links connecting Churachandpur with Chandel and Kangpokpi, alongside the construction of a bridge over the Imphal River in Chandel.

Administrative reforms featured prominently in the submission, with the council pressing for the appointment of neutral officials in sensitive zones like Chandel, as well as jurisdictional corrections in transport, police and land revenue offices.
Additional demands included establishing an examination centre for Manipur Public Service Commission tests in Kuki-Zo areas, clearance of pending scholarships, release of salary arrears at Moreh College and SEMCO College and enhanced healthcare services in Moreh.
The delegation also flagged unreliable helicopter services in hill districts, which they said disrupt emergency mobility and connectivity.
Governor Bhalla assured the delegation that the grievances would be given due attention, while the KZC thanked both him and the deputy commissioner for facilitating the discussions.
Later, the governor, accompanied by the KZC and the Director General of Assam Rifles (DGAR) at 27 Sector Headquarters, Tuibuong, also reviewed security concerns in Kuki-Zo areas.
