Imphal: The North Eastern Council (NEC) has released Rs 6,19, 49,507 (Rs 6.19 crore) in May 2025 for nine development projects in Manipur.
These funds were released to support projects in tourism, industry, agriculture, transport and communication, science & technology, HRD, irrigation, flood control, water management and promotion of culture and heritage.
For community projects, NEC released Rs 82,34,979 for constructing a multi-facility centre at IGNTU-RCM in Kangpokpi district.
Another Rs 37,50,000 was allocated for an integrated farming system model demonstration, while Rs 62,61,500 was allocated for backwards community development in thr Zeme Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong district.
Infrastructure development funding too received a shot. A total of Rs 2 crore was allocated for constructing a mini-stadium at Luangrang (Nungnang) in the Noney district.
Additionally Rs 8,00,000 was provided for a seven day livelihood skill development and technology intervention training program cum workshop and exhibition on Kouna craft (water reed) in Khingabok village, Thoubal district.
Another Rs 59,73, 750 is being invested for furniture and fixtures at the SC/ST boys and girls hostel of thr National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) in Imphal.
Three projects in the Senapati district have bagged Rs 1.35 crore. These include a multi-utility building for the Thangal tribe, a 25-bedded residential hostel for girls at Makeng Cheijinba village and a common community pond at Angkailongdi village.
Lastly, Rs 26,40,00 is provided for a tissue culture facility to produce disease-free citrus planting material. Another Rs 7,20,000 was invested in a training program on cane and bamboo products for the Charuchandpur district.
