New Delhi: In a fresh round of central postings, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has appointed two IPS officers to significant leadership roles. IPS Mohit Chawla (2010 batch, Himachal Pradesh cadre) has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).Â
Currently serving in his state cadre, Chawla will take up the new position on deputation. The ITBP, one of India’s central armed police forces, is responsible for guarding the Himalayan frontiers and securing high-altitude borders. His appointment is expected to further strengthen the leadership ranks of the force.
Simultaneously, IPS Guguloth Amrutha (2011 batch, AGMUT cadre) has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General in the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D). She too will join on deputation from her current cadre posting.Â
The BPR&D serves as the country’s nodal agency for police modernisation, training, and capacity building. Amrutha’s appointment is likely to contribute to policy innovation and institutional strengthening within the organisation.
Both officers are set to bring valuable experience to their new roles.
