New Delhi: AIIMS Delhi has launched an Artificial Intelligence-based mental health and wellness app called ‘Never Alone’ to tackle suicidal tendencies among students.Â
The launch took place on World Suicide Prevention Day. The initiative aims to screen, intervene, and provide post-intervention follow-up for college and university students.
Dr. Nand Kumar, Professor at the Department of Psychiatry at AIIMS Delhi, said the app would help identify mental health issues early and provide timely support. It offers round-the-clock access via WhatsApp and combines virtual and offline consultations with mental health and wellness experts.
Accessible and secure platform
Besides AIIMS-Delhi, the programme has also been launched at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar and the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) in Shahdara.Â
Dr. Kumar said the app ensures a highly secure and personalised experience. The basic screening costs about 70 paisa per student per day.
Institutions can subscribe to the service by approaching AIIMS Delhi. All the All India Institute of Medical Sciences campuses will get the service at no cost through the Global Centre of Integrative Health (GCIH), a not-for-profit initiative supported by AIIMS Delhi alumnus Dr. Deepak Chopra.
