Kolkata: The MSME Export Promotion Council has informed that West Bengal has received total investment proposals worth Rs 1 lakh 23,385 crore from FY 2021-22 to FY 2024-25.
This was as per an internal survey that also claimed that if these investments finally happen, they will employ 75,000 people.
Based on information from the Centre for Monitoring of Indian Economy, the Council claimed that Rs 42,440 crore has already been invested in the state.
In addition, projects worth Rs 23,260 crore are already underway.
The overall industrial sector has grown at 7.3 per cent in these four years. The manufacturing sector has grown even more at 7.8 per cent.
The MSME Council also claims that the single window clearance has eased bureaucratic hurdles and opened up avenues for industrial growth.
However, the contribution of agriculture has come down in the overall state GDP. The Council has advised the cultivation of more cash crops to redress this.
