Srinagar: In a major administrative reshuffle, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has transferred seven senior IPS officers across the Union Territory. IPS Abdul Ghani Mir (AGMUT 1994), recently elevated to the rank of Director General of Police, has been appointed as Commandant General, Home Guards, Civil Defence, and SDRF.
He takes charge from IPS Alok Kumar, who was holding the position as an additional responsibility. Mir has earlier served in key roles, including IGP Kashmir Range, and brings decades of field and strategic policing experience.
Other key IPS transfers include:
IPS Mohammad Yaseen Kichloo (AGMUT 2013): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) CICE Jammu to Principal, STC Talwara
IPS Shobhit Saxena (AGMUT 2015): SSP Kathua to SSP Security, J&K
IPS Tanushree (AGMUT 2017): SP SIA HQ to SSP Pulwama, replacing P.D. Nitya
IPS Sahil Sarangal (AGMUT 2017): SSP Kulgam to SSP Handwara
IPS Mohita Sharma (AGMUT 2017): AIG Provisions to SSP Kathua
IPS Anayat Ali Choudhary (AGMUT 2017): SSP Shopian to SSP Kulgam
The new appointments are expected to streamline command structures and enhance ground-level policing in the region.
