New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 129th edition of Mann Ki Baat, carried a reflective tone as it marked the final episode of 2025.
Alongside looking back at the year, PM Modi highlighted stories of grassroots efforts that often remain outside the national spotlight, including that of Margaret Ramtharsiem from Manipur’s Churachandpur district.
PM Modi spoke about how Margaret built a livelihood initiative rooted in traditional bamboo craft, woodwork and local handicrafts.
What began as a personal effort gradually expanded into a collective enterprise, now supporting more than 50 local artisans who earn a steady income from skills passed down through generations.
The handcrafted products created by the group are no longer limited to local markets and are now being sold in Delhi and other states, helping bring wider visibility to Manipuri crafts.
Margaret said the mention on Mann Ki Baat came as a surprise and has encouraged her to further strengthen her work.
Her journey, marked by steady growth rather than sudden success, reflects how traditional skills can adapt to modern markets while sustaining livelihoods.
