New Delhi: The upcoming India AI Impact Summit is expected to deliver more than 10 tangible outcomes as the government positions the event as a global platform to shape the future of artificial intelligence with a strong focus on inclusion, governance and real-world impact.
Speaking on 30 January, S Krishnan, IAS, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and IT, said the summit is designed to accelerate the democratisation of AI and support the development of solutions for critical sectors in India, while also contributing to global standards and governance frameworks.
Krishnan said the government is also preparing to roll out IndiaAI Mission 2.0 within the next five to six months, building on the outcomes of the summit.
He underlined that the event aims to bridge the global AI divide and enable the development of indigenous, locally relevant AI solutions across areas such as healthcare, agriculture and governance.
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw described the India AI Impact Summit as the largest AI-focused global gathering to date, with participation from heads of state, ministers, leading technologists and industry leaders.
Among those expected to attend are Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, along with several global CEOs, researchers and policymakers.
According to official estimates, over 100 government representatives, more than 600 global AI leaders and nearly one lakh participants will take part during the summit week.
Vaishnaw noted that AI-related hiring in the IT sector has already risen by 33 per cent and said the government is working with industry to develop a scalable talent model.
As part of this effort, AI infrastructure and curricula are planned to be rolled out across 500 universities. He also said large-scale research programmes will be taken up, with investments of about $70 billion already in the pipeline for AI infrastructure layers, a figure that could potentially double by the end of the summit.
The minister added that Indian IT majors have developed nearly 200 AI models across sectors, many of which are in advanced stages and are expected to be launched at the summit.
The event will also feature global innovation challenges, research showcases, working group outcomes and an AI Impact Expo, reinforcing India’s ambition to emerge as a leading voice in responsible, inclusive and impactful AI for the Global South.
