New Delhi: Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Secretary S Krishnan visited Infineon on 15 January to deepen the company’s engagement in India and advance strategic semiconductor cooperation between India and Germany.
The visit follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed this month between Infineon Technologies AG and the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) in Ahmedabad.
The MoU was witnessed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, during a high-level business interaction linked to a German delegation visit. Infineon CEO Jochen Hanebeck was part of the delegation.
The agreement establishes a structured framework for semiconductor skilling and workforce development in India. Under the partnership, Infineon will work with NIELIT, an autonomous body under MeitY, to develop training programmes focused on semiconductor assembly, testing and packaging.
The collaboration includes curriculum development, expert-led sessions, train-the-trainer initiatives and equipment support to enable hands-on practical training, strengthening India’s semiconductor talent ecosystem.
