Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has announced the Rajasthan Semiconductor Policy, aiming to position the state as a major hub for semiconductor manufacturing and allied industries.
The move comes as semiconductors become critical to digital technologies, automation, and national security. The policy aligns with India’s broader push for technological self-reliance and economic resilience.
Priority Semiconductor Corridors Identified
Under the new policy, key industrial zones, including Jodhpur-Pali-Marwar and Kankani, will be developed as Priority Semiconductor Corridors. Other suitable locations may also be notified. These corridors will offer fast-track land allotment, coordinated utility services, and single-window clearances. The state expects these measures to reduce project timelines and improve investor confidence.
Focus on OSAT, ATMP, and Design Ecosystem
The policy places strong emphasis on attracting investments in Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) and Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP) units. It also targets sensors and related electronics manufacturing. Alongside manufacturing, Rajasthan aims to strengthen the fabless semiconductor design ecosystem to support innovation and value creation within the state.
Infrastructure Support and Ease of Doing Business
To support semiconductor projects, the state government will ensure an uninterrupted power and water supply, along with streamlined regulatory approvals. Investors will be required to submit applications through the RajNivesh portal, which serves as a single platform for approvals and clearances. Ease of doing business remains a central pillar of the policy framework.
Dedicated Committees for Implementation
For effective execution, the government will set up two bodies: the State Level Sanctioning Committee and the State Empowered Committee. These committees will oversee approvals, incentives, and policy monitoring. The Department of Industries and Commerce will act as the nodal agency for coordination and implementation.
Alignment with National Semiconductor Mission
The Rajasthan Semiconductor Policy is aligned with the India Semiconductor Mission launched in 2021. The recent Union Budget allocated Rs 40,000 crore for Mission 2.0, strengthening central support. National initiatives such as Make in India, Production Linked Incentive schemes, the Semicon India Programme, and ESDM have laid the groundwork for domestic semiconductor growth.
With this policy, Rajasthan aims to attract high-value investments, create skilled jobs, and emerge as a key contributor to India’s expanding semiconductor landscape.
