New Delhi, March 31 (APAC Media): In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Central Government has appointed IAS officer Abhishek Singh as the Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA) under the Ministry of Education.
A 1995-batch officer of the Nagaland cadre, Singh will assume the role in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India, with the position being temporarily upgraded to accommodate the appointment.
Prior to this, Singh served as the Director General of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Known for his expertise in digital governance, he has handled key portfolios including Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies, Cyber Security, and Digital Skilling.
Singh brings with him a wealth of administrative and technological experience to the National Testing Agency, which is responsible for conducting major national-level examinations. His appointment comes at a crucial time as the agency continues to strengthen transparency and efficiency in examination processes.
Over the years, Singh has held several prominent positions in the Government of India. He has served as the CEO of Karmayogi Bharat under the Department of Personnel and Training, and as CEO of the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Digital India Corporation (DIC), and MyGov.
Between 2014 and 2017, he was the Executive Director at the Food Corporation of India (FCI), where he played a key role in implementing initiatives related to information technology, engineering, and storage. He also held additional responsibilities as Executive Director (North Zone) and Chief Vigilance Officer at FCI.
An alumnus of IIT Kanpur, Singh holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School.
