New Delhi: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on 10 March approved the revised project cost of Rs 3,630.77 crore for a greenfield highway that will link the upcoming Jewar International Airport with the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway corridor.
The project will be implemented under the Hybrid Annuity Mode across parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
The proposed corridor will span approximately 31.42 km and will connect the Delhi-Faridabad-Ballabhgarh-
Once operational, the route is expected to offer faster road access for travellers from South Delhi, Faridabad and Gurugram, while also strengthening logistics movement within the National Capital Region.
The government said that the alignment has been designed to intersect with several key transport networks, including the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, the Yamuna Expressway and the Dedicated Freight Corridor.
These linkages are expected to improve multimodal connectivity and support the efficient movement of passengers as well as goods across the region.
The government also highlighted the strategic importance of an elevated stretch within the project, noting that it will play a significant role in improving urban mobility and supporting regional infrastructure development.
Around 11 km of the highway forms a critical portion of the planned greenfield link connecting the DND-Ballabhgarh Bypass with Jewar International Airport and further integrating with the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
The route will pass through areas identified for high-density development under the Faridabad Master Plan 2031, which aims to guide future urban expansion and infrastructure growth in the region.
The elevated section will add about Rs 689.24 crore to the project cost. Out of this, the Haryana government has agreed to contribute Rs 450 crore toward the construction of the elevated corridor.
