“Melody”, PM Narendra Modi reportedly replied, triggering laughter and reviving the ‘Melodi’ meme trend online linked to the two leaders. The moment also brought renewed attention to the brand’s tagline, “very, very chocolaty”, and quickly went viral on social media.
The stock has gained nearly 7% over the past week, reflecting sustained momentum in recent trade.
Parle Products, the FMCG company behind popular brands such as Parle-G, Monaco, KrackJack, Mango Bite and Poppins, manufactures the “Melody” toffee.
Meanwhile, Parle Industries is a separately listed entity on the BSE and has no business linkage with Melody or Parle Products.
Market observers noted that the recent rally in Parle Industries shares appears to have been driven by retail investor confusion and sentiment after the viral circulation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Melody” gift to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, leading traders to associate the listed company with the confectionery brand.
The moment, which featured PM Modi presenting the popular confectionery item, quickly went viral online, sparking discussions around the brand and triggering retail buying sentiment in the country.
Market participants said the spike appeared sentiment-driven, linked to heightened visibility of the product rather than any fundamental development.
Parle Industries shares later remained locked in the upper circuit during the session.
