Noida, May 20 (APAC Media): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an extended warning for severe heatwave conditions across large parts of Northwest and Central India, forecasting that extreme temperatures are likely to persist for at least the next week.
“The entire North West India and Central India are continuously in the grip of a heatwave, starting from the Western Himalayan region. Heatwave conditions are prevailing in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand as well, and a similar scenario is expected to continue in the coming days.†IMD scientist Naresh Kumar said.

“The heatwave conditions are expected to remain in northwest India and central India for almost the next seven days. While the Himalayas may see these conditions today and tomorrow, the heatwave is expected to persist over the plains. Naresh added.
Officials said temperatures in the national capital region could rise to nearly 47 degrees Celsius, with severe heatwave conditions likely to persist in the coming days. The IMD has advised residents to take necessary precautions, avoid prolonged outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours, and maintain adequate hydration as intense heat conditions continue across the affected regions.

The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for southern parts of Uttar Pradesh and northern regions of Madhya Pradesh for the next three days, warning of potentially dangerous heat levels.
“We have issued a red alert for the southern parts of Uttar Pradesh and northern parts of Madhya Pradesh for the next three days. Delhi NCR has been placed under an orange alert for the next seven days, with temperatures likely to remain very high and may come close to 47 degrees Celsius.†Naresh expressed.
An orange alert has been issued across Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and the Delhi region, warning of continued heatwave conditions and high temperatures over the coming days.
