SENIOR KERALA-CADRE IAS OFFICER EDWIN KULBHUSHAN MAJHI SUCCUMBED TO COVID-19
Bhubaneswar: Senior Kerala-cadre IAS officer Edwin Kulbhushan Majhi succumbed to COVID-19 on Tuesday. Majhi was born and raised in Sundergarh town in Odisha. He was 58.
A 1989-batch IAS officer, Majhi was on central deputation as Additional Secretary in Department of Food and Public Distribution. He was under treatment in a private hospital for the last few days after he was diagnosed with Covid.
Majhi had served as Thiruvananthapuram district collector, revenue department principal secretary, and agriculture department secretary before being posted in the central deputation.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed grief over his death. In February this year, Majhi was empanelled for Secretary-equivalent position at the Centre.
Majhi’s father, Late Ignace Majhi was Bar at Law from London. He was a Minister of Law and Irrigation Departments in the Odisha Government during the post-Emergency period.
Majhi’s mother had also succumbed to Coronavirus last year at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. His wife is also afflicted with COVID-19 and undergoing treatment at Delhi, reports added.
