CLEANLINESS DRIVE, WATER CONSERVATION CAMPAIGN AND TREE PLANTATION TAKEN UP IN A BIG WAY
Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) marked World Environment day by taking up a cleanliness drive, water conservation campaign and tree plantation. The GMC organised a cleanliness campaign and the pond at Maknapur was cleaned led by the Municipal Commissioner, Mahendra Singh Tawar and his team.

The rainwater recharge pits are being dug up to help collect monsoon rain and address the depleting water table. Several pits have been dug up ahead of the monsoon to collect rainwater which can ultimately recharge the water table of the region. We plan to dig up at least one pit in each ward, possibly in the park area. This will serve to collect rainwater and recharge the water table, said GMC commissioner.

A special plantation program was undertaken by the Horticulture Department of Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation in all the wards of the city including Pratap Vihar Sector 11 by Mayor Asha Sharma, Ghaziabad Municipal Commissioner and Dr. Anuj Kumar Singh, Garden In-charge of Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation, Regional Councillor Kripal. On the occasion, the gardeners of the Horticulture Department were honoured. 2,100 saplings were planted in the city and responsibility of its upkeep was taken by the local residents.

Additional Secretary and Mission Director, National Water Mission Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India G. Ashok Kumar and GMC commissioner, Mahendra Singh Tawar inspected ponds located at Makanpur, Raispur, Morta and Nai Phal.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Pramod Kumar, Additional Municipal Commissioner RN Pandey, Chief Engineer Construction ,Moinuddin, General Manager Water Yogesh Shrivastava, Municipal Health Officer Dr Mithilesh Kumar and other members of Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation were present in the programs organized by Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation on World Environment Day.
