The Defence online OPD manned by AFMC specialists/doctors has catered to over 10,000 patients in less than a month. Ex-Defence doctors provide online consultation on e-Sanjeevani OPD to all citizens.
Veterans have come forward to answer the call of the nation and offered their services to help the people needing medical care.
The service can be availed by any civilian on the website https://esanjeevaniopd.in/.e-Sanjeevani OPD is a flagship telemedicine platform of the Government, developed by the Centre for Development of Advance Computing (C-DAC), Mohali under the aegis of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
The initiative has been taken by the defence ministry as part of overall measures to help the civilian authorities in dealing with the rising cases of COVID-19. Dr Ajay Kumar, Union Defence Secretary thanked AFMS, Indian Armed Forces, CDAC & NIC for making defence online operational during the pandemic.
There has been a good response from the retired defence doctors and more are expected to join soon say senior officials. The online outpatient platform has ensured widespread access to quality health services in remote areas besides reducing the load on the hospitals.
