Mumbai: The tech giant Google has signed a contract with Raiden Infotech India to acquire a data centre in Navi Mumbai with a lease term of 28 years. The data centre would be set up with the purpose of expanding the cloud infrastructure to meet the growing demand in India.
The data centre will be in an eight-storey building with a basement and a roof and is expected to come up in the next two years.
The stamp duty on the property is more than Rs 7.26 crore. Google will pay Rs 1,144 crore over the first 10 years with a rental escalation of 1.75 per cent every 12 years. Previously, it had acquired a 464,000-square-foot facility at the Adani Centre in Noida on a 10-year lease.
According to the agreement, Google has the option to expand the facility by a similar size and it also holds the right to first offer any extra space that may be needed.
