Madras: GUVI, a company fostered by IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad, is launching a program with the goal of training 100,000 engineering students in Tamil Nadu. This extensive training will be delivered through a sequence of hackathons, providing students with valuable coding skills and hands-on experience.
The company, known as ‘Naan Mudhalvan-Tamil Nadu Coders Premier League’ (NM-TNcpl), has collaborated with the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ initiative by the Government of Tamil Nadu, Anna University, and the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation.
The NM-TNcpl comprises a series of online and offline hackathons spanning three months, offering an opportunity for driven engineering students from Tamil Nadu. This platform empowers them to showcase their coding prowess and acquire valuable upskilling resources, all at no cost.
Throughout these hackathons, participants will take on the challenge of addressing problem statements from different departments within the Tamil Nadu government, and aim to deliver innovative technological solutions.
This innovative initiative was officially launched by Thiru. Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development in the Government of Tamil Nadu, on the 6th of October, 2023, at the Anna Centenary Library in Chennai.
Colleges like Annapoorana Engineering College in Salem and the KSR Educational Institutions in Tiruchengode, have collaborated with GUVI to serve as the primary hubs for launching this extensive series of Hackathons.
Arun Prakash M, Founder and CEO of GUVI, said, ”Our team has started this journey with a mission to make quality tech education accessible to all, and NM-TNcpl is a testament to our commitment.”
