New Delhi: Minister of State in the PMO, Minister Jitendra Singh, stated recently that India is one of seven countries globally utilising quantum technology. He made this declaration during the Indian Military Heritage Festival, hosted by the United Service Institution of India (USI) in New Delhi.
Singh pointed out that India’s armed forces have upgraded their arsenal, now incorporating advanced tools such as drones, heliborne operations, and UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles). They are also prepared to embrace emerging technologies like quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
The minister emphasised India is at par with leading nations in the adoption of disruptive technologies that are capable of reshaping the defence landscape. He asserted that this places India as a global technology leader in the defence sector while bolstering national security.
“Gone are the times when our forces were using outdated weapons. We are among the seven elite countries in the world that are using quantum technology. With this view, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the National Quantum Mission in March this year,” he said.
Furthermore, the minister expressed that this is an optimal period for India in the science, technology, and innovation sectors.
