New Delhi: The President has granted approval to three criminal law bills, recently passed by the Parliament. The Bharatiya Nyaya (Second) Sanhita, aiming to replace the Indian Penal Code, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (Second) Sanhita, seeking to supplant the Code of Criminal Procedure, and the Bharatiya Sakshya (Second) Sanhita, with the objective of substituting the Indian Evidence Act, have received presidential assent.
The Lok Sabha cleared the bills on December 20th, followed by approval from the Rajya Sabha on December 21.
