New Delhi: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is set to seek the cabinet’s approval for the India AI program, the Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, recently revealed. The program, valued at over Rs 10,000 crore, involves the establishment of GPU-based servers in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
At the inauguration of the Synopsys chip design centre in Noida, Chandrasekhar highlighted that the India AI program proposal would be presented to the cabinet for approval. The PPP model will see computer infrastructure capacity development in private data centres and those operated by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC).
In addition to the AI program announcement, Chandrasekhar inaugurated Synopsys’ semiconductor chip design centre at DLF Tech Park in Noida. This centre, the company’s second-largest in India, is anticipated to employ 6,000 engineers, constituting 27% of Synopsys’ global design workforce.
