Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled Boeing’s new global engineering and technology campus in Bengaluru. The Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC), built with an investment of Rs 1,600 crore and sprawling across 43 acres, is now Boeing’s largest investment outside the United States.
The BIETC is poised to become a hub for collaborative efforts between Boeing and India, focusing on next-generation products and services for the global aerospace and defence industry. PM Modi emphasised Bengaluru’s role as a nexus of innovation and aspirations, connecting India’s technological prowess to global demands. He stated that the campus exemplifies India’s commitment to driving global tech, research, innovation, design, and demand.
“This strengthens the ‘Make in India-Make for the World’ resolution,” Modi remarked, emphasising the global impact of India’s aerospace capabilities. He expressed confidence that the facility would contribute to India designing aircraft of the future.
During the inauguration, Modi also launched the Boeing Sukanya Program, designed to promote the entry of more girls into India’s aviation sector. The initiative will offer opportunities for girls and women across the country to acquire critical skills in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) within the aviation industry.
The program includes the establishment of labs at 150 locations to ignite interest in STEM careers for young girls and scholarships for women pursuing pilot training.
