Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government recently nominated IAS officer B Jothi Nirmalasamy as the new State Election Commissioner. The 2002 batch officer is currently serving as the Secretary in the Department of Commercial Taxes and Registration. She will be succeeding V Palaniswamy in this role.
A notification was released from the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, issued by Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena, which specified that she will serve as the State Election Commissioner for a term of five years or until she reaches the age of 65, whichever occurs first.
