New Delhi: The National Council of Education Research (NCERT) is set to revise the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Syllabus for Classes 3 and 6, lining up with the recently introduced National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023. The revised syllabus will come into effect in the academic year 2024-25.
In a communication to the CBSE, NCERT outlined the plan to change the curriculum, stressing the importance of telling schools, teachers, and parents about the new syllabus and how it will affect school timetables.
The notice informs that NCERT, CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), along with the Department of School Education and Literacy, are working together to achieve the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Schools associated with CBSE will receive new textbooks that match the revised syllabi. NCERT has advised CBSE to share this information with schools and come up with plans to involve students in active learning across different subjects and activities.
Additionally, NCERT will provide a syllabus bridge program to help Grade 6 students transition smoothly and clear guidelines for Grade 3. This initiative aims to introduce students to new teaching methods and subjects like Arts, Physical Education, Vocational Education, and The World Around Us.
New activity books and textbooks that match the changes are currently being made. Schools have been encouraged to share this information widely to ensure smooth implementation and to raise awareness among parents and the community.
