BYJU’s subsidiary Akash Education appoints Deepak Mehrotra as MD & CEO

New Delhi: Aakash Educational Services Ltd (AESL), a subsidiary of BYJU’s, has appointed Deepak Mehrotra as its Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mehrotra has more than 35 years of experience in industries like FMCG, telecom, and education.

Mehrotra has previously worked as the MD of Ashirvad Pipes and also held positions at Pearson India, Bharti Airtel, Coca-Cola, and Asian Paints. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Roorkee, an MMS from JBIMS, and completed an Executive program at The Wharton School in Philadelphia, USA.

Mehrotra will focus on using technology and modern teaching methods in his new role, to make learning better for students.

AESL provides coaching for medical and engineering entrance exams, school/board exams, and competitive exams such as NTSE, KVPY, and olympiads. It runs over 310 Aakash centres and has more than 400,000 students.
