New Delhi: Khanij Bidesh India Limited (KABIL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT) to enhance technical capabilities and knowledge in critical minerals.
The MoU was signed by Sadashiv Samantaray, Director (Commercial) of NALCO & CEO of KABIL, and Dr Ramanuj Narayan, Director of CSIR-IMMT. It sets up framework for collaboration in areas like metallurgical testing, developing process flowsheets, and selecting technologies for mineral processing, beneficiation, and metal extraction.
The agreement includes joint research projects, allowing the exchange of scientific information between the two organisations.
Sridhar Patra, CMD of NALCO & Chairman of KABIL, praised the collaboration for its potential to support the exploration of critical mineral. He stressed the significance of advancing scientific research and technology in mining to ensure industry growth, sustainability, and national mineral security.
KABIL is a joint venture company comprising of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), and Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL). It operates under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India. KABIL identifIes, explores, acquires, develops, mines, processes, and procures critical and strategic minerals. This is to ensure national mineral security and meet domestic requirements, thereby aligning with the Make in India initiative.
