Chennai: Mindgrove Technologies, a startup incubated by IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation and IIT Madras Incubation Cell, with support from Peak XV Partners, has inaugurated Secure IoT, India’s first high-performance System on Chip (SoC). It provides programmability, flexibility, and strong security features that are suitable for various smart devices, including wearables, smart city infrastructure, and connected home appliances.
SoCs are like mini computers that condense numerous electronic parts into one chip. This makes devices more efficient while reducing their size. Secure IoT allows Indian Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to fuse a locally made SoC into their products. It reduces their costs while maintaining advanced features.
Secure IoT is priced 30 percent lower than similar chips and has a clock speed of 700 MHz, making it India’s leading microcontroller chip in the market. Its Reduced Instruction Set Computing – V( RISC-V) architecture allows both affordability and high performance, thereby offering both high-end and affordable options in embedded systems.
Shashwath TR, CEO and Co-Founder of Mindgrove Technologies said, “The pandemic revealed the wide gap between high-end and low-end players in the embedded systems space, with the latter prioritising cost and volume over the chip’s actual performance. Thus, we set out to design chips that target the middle market.”
