Mumbai: Universal AI University (UAIU), India’s pioneering Artificial Intelligence institution, has appointed Simon Mak, an international strategist and award-winning academic, as vice chancellor. Mak’s selection as founding vice chancellor is a notable milestone, as he is the first foreign national to lead an Indian institution.
Mak, who has expertise in Silicon Valley businesses and academia, will work closely with the university’s chancellor, Prof Tarundeep Singh Anand. His key goal will be to elevate UAIU’s global prominence through an innovative AI-driven curriculum while preserving ethical educational standards.
Mak’s excellent qualifications include a B.Tech from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as well as an MBA and Ph.D. from the SMU Cox School of Business. In his former post as Executive Director of the Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship at SMU Cox, he led research in blockchain technology and developed an MBA course on Blockchain Entrepreneurship.
