New Delhi: The Centre has named Acting Enforcement Directorate chief, Rahul Navin, as the full-time Director of the probe agency. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment for a period of two years. The post of ED director is an Additional Secretary (AS) rank post in the Union government. Navin was impaneled as the AS in December last year.
Navin is an Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) Officer of the 1993 batch. He joined the ED in 2019 as a Special Director to spearhead the probe agency’s work on India’s mutual evaluation by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). He then took charge as the acting director of ED in September last year after the tenure of Sanjay Kumar Mishra as the director ended.
Navin is a BTech and MTech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He has also done a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne. He has worked in the I-T department for 30 years and holds expertise in international taxation matters.
