New Delhi: AIIMS New Delhi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Intuitive to develop an innovative training center for robotic-assisted surgery. The facility, named da Vinci RAS Training Center, will focus on equipping surgeons and healthcare professionals with the skills and technology training required for performing robotic-assisted surgery across specialties including urology, gynecology, general surgery, and more.
During the signing of the MoU, Gary S Guthart, Chief Executive Officer of Intuitive emphasized the importance of the partnership and remarked that the center will serve as the beacon of excellence, fostering training, skill, and knowledge development for the future generations of surgeons. A pool of experienced robotic surgeons at AIIMS will mentor and train new surgeons nationwide.
This industry-academia collaboration is expected to advance the adoption of robotic-assisted surgery in India by providing state-of-the-art technology training for surgeons across different regions of the country.
