New Delhi: The Indian government is set to establish a new database to track citizens seeking employment or educational opportunities abroad. Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya organized an inter-ministerial meeting on October 8 to discuss this initiative.
The meeting brought together key officials, including Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje. They focused on the need to gather detailed data on individuals traveling to both Emigration Check Required (ECR) and Non-ECR countries. To facilitate this, the government plans to integrate platforms like the National Career Service (NCS) and eMigrate, aiming for a clearer picture of the job market.
A major aspect of the discussion was enhancing collaboration between the Ministry of External Affairs and NITI Aayog to improve oversight of recruitment agencies. The government also seeks input from industry associations to fill existing data gaps, especially in the informal sector.
In parallel, the Labour Ministry is pushing forward with plans for employment-linked incentive (ELI) schemes, with guidelines expected to be announced by the end of November. An earlier rollout of these initiatives is now anticipated, aimed at boosting job opportunities for citizens.
