New Delhi: Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has launched the ‘Mahila Shaksham’ scheme aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs. This initiative, under the Centre’s Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission, offers financial assistance to individual members of Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The scheme aligns with the Ministry of Rural Development’s ‘Lakhpati Didi Yojana,’ designed to promote financial independence for women.
According to an official statement by IOB, the Mahila Shaksham scheme will provide credit support of up to Rs 10 lakh to eligible SHG members. Additionally, it will foster entrepreneurship by ensuring a sustainable income of a minimum of Rs 1 lakh per household.
This scheme is part of IOB’s efforts to enhance credit access for rural women, thereby driving economic development and promoting self-reliance among women in marginalized communities. It is expected to boost financial inclusion and entrepreneurial growth at the grassroots level.
