Hyderabad: Marriott International is set to launch its first global capability center (GCC) in Hyderabad, marking its entry into offshore operations in India. This center will support the company’s technological needs across its global network, covering 141 countries.
The Marriott Tech Accelerator is among the first GCCs established by a major hospitality company in India, with operations expected to commence by early 2025. The center aims to expand Marriott’s technology infrastructure, engineering, and security capabilities. Local government sources indicated that around 300 jobs will be created in the first phase of the project.
Drew Pinto, Marriott’s Chief Revenue & Technology Officer, cited Hyderabad’s skilled workforce and status as a technology hub as key factors in the decision. Telangana’s IT Minister, Duddila Sridhar Babu, highlighted the state’s focus on attracting more GCCs through potential incentive schemes, leveraging its large talent pool.
This initiative builds on Marriott’s 25-year presence in India, following its recent milestone of 150 hotels. The Hyderabad center is part of the state’s broader strategy to position itself as a destination for global business operations across industries.
