New Delhi: Noida International Airport has completed important tests on its Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) as it prepares for its official launch.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) conducted the calibration flights using a Beech King Air 360ER, with support from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The testing, which began on October 10 and finished Monday, is meant to make sure that the airport’s navigation systems are ready for safe and efficient operations. The ILS helps guide pilots during landings, especially in bad weather, while the PAPI system helps them maintain the right angle as they approach the runway.
This step moves the airport closer to opening, with its construction and setup underway since the foundation stone was laid in November 2021. Located about 72 km from Delhi’s main airport, Noida International Airport will serve areas like Noida, Agra, and Dadri. It’s expected to ease pressure on Indira Gandhi International Airport and boost connectivity in the region once it opens later this year.
