Raipur: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has opened its fourth AMRIT pharmacy, this time at its Health Centre in Indira Vihar Colony, Bilaspur. This makes SECL the first coal company to run four of these government-backed pharmacies, which offer low-cost medicines to the public.
The new pharmacy joins three others in SECL’s network, located at hospitals in Gevra, Sohagpur, and Chirimiri. These pharmacies, part of a Ministry of Health initiative, provide a range of discounted medicines and medical supplies, including essential drugs for cancer and heart disease. The goal is to make healthcare more affordable, especially for people in rural and tribal areas around SECL’s coal mines.
SECL’s CMD, Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra, shared that this pharmacy was set up by reusing vacant space, as part of efforts under Special Campaign 4.0 to make better use of resources. The facility aims to help SECL employees and residents access medicines more easily, while also cutting down on medical reimbursement costs for the company.
By expanding the AMRIT pharmacy network, SECL hopes to improve access to affordable healthcare in the coal belt region.
