Patna: In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Bihar government has announced the transfer and posting of seven senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. The decision, aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency, was confirmed by the Bihar Police Headquarters.
As per the official announcement, IPS Kundan Krishnan, a 1994-batch officer who recently returned from central deputation, has been appointed as the Additional Director General (ADG) of Police Headquarters. He replaces IPS Jitendra Singh Gangwar (1993 batch), who has been relieved of his additional charge and will now exclusively serve as Director General (DG) of Civil Defence.
Other transferred officers include:
IPS Pankaj Darad (1995 batch), formerly the ADG of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), has taken on the additional responsibility of ADG for Law and Order while retaining his position as ADG of the Special Vigilance Unit.
IPS Vivekananda, a 1996-batch officer, has been transferred from Bhagalpur as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) to the Special Task Force (STF).
IPS Sanjay Singh (1997 batch), previously ADG of Law and Order, has been reassigned as ADG (Training).
IPS Shaleen (2001 batch) transitions from Inspector General (IG) of the Bihar Special Armed Police (B-SAP) to IG of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), with additional responsibilities for the B-SAP.
IPS Vivek Kumar (2007 batch), DIG of the Crime Investigation Department, will now serve as DIG of Bhagalpur East Zone.
This reshuffle reflects the state government’s focus on strategic placements to strengthen policing and governance. The adjustments are expected to optimize the functioning of Bihar Police amidst rising administrative and security challenges.
