Raipur: The Chhattisgarh Government has announced the appointment of Subodh Kumar Singh as the Principal Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). Singh is a 1997-batch IAS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre. This appointment follows his repatriation to his parent cadre on December 17, 2024, approved by the central government at the request of the Chhattisgarh government. Upon his return, Singh formally assumed his new responsibilities at the CMO, marking the beginning of a crucial phase in his administrative career.
Prior to this, Singh served as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Steel at the central level, where he was instrumental in overseeing financial operations and policy implementation. His extensive career includes stints as a District Collector in multiple districts, including Raipur, and other significant positions such as Director General of the National Testing Agency, Joint Secretary of the Food & Public Distribution Department, and Secretary of the PWD & Mineral Resources Department. During former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh’s administration, Singh held various key portfolios in the Chief Minister’s Office and the Chief Secretariat, demonstrating his capability to handle complex administrative challenges. His leadership during that period laid the groundwork for many impactful governance initiatives in the state.
An alumnus of IIT Roorkee, Singh holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from IGNOU. His diverse educational background complements his rich experience, equipping him to handle the multifaceted responsibilities of his new role.
