Shimla: In an effort to leverage digital technology and AI for the benefit of citizens, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has urged Google to invest in the state, focusing on utilizing technology for public welfare. According to an official statement, this initiative aims to enhance public service delivery in key sectors such as agriculture, education, and public service delivery. During a meeting with Google India Head Ashish Wattal, potential AI-driven collaborations were discussed to improve public services in Himachal Pradesh.
Following are the key areas in which the state government plans to collaborate with Google:
People Empowerment Platform Initiative
The state government plans to create a “People Empowerment Platform” in collaboration with Google through its Labour and Employment Department. This platform will connect citizens with skilled service providers like plumbers, electricians, and carpenters, providing convenience while fostering employment in the unorganized sector.
Advancing AI-Driven Public Services
A significant focus was placed on integrating advanced technology into sectors like health, agriculture, education, and public grievance redressal systems. The government aims to upgrade the Mukhyamantri Seva Sankalp Helpline-1100 with generative AI to ensure quicker and more efficient grievance redressal, prioritizing citizen satisfaction.
Enhancing Education with AI
In the education sector, AI-based teaching modules will be introduced in two government senior secondary schools as pilot projects. These modules are designed to improve learning outcomes and modernize educational practices, aligning with global teaching standards.
Leveraging Technology for Agriculture and Disaster Management
Chief Minister Sukhu highlighted the transformative potential of advanced technologies in agriculture and disaster preparedness. Under the partnership with Google, accurate weather forecasting technology will be developed that can help reduce loss of life and property by enabling better planning and emergency response by local administrations.
This initiative underlines Himachal Pradesh’s commitment to leveraging technology for societal benefits and creating employment opportunities while modernizing governance and public services.
